And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did. - John 4:39
When the woman of Samaria started her journey to the well, I’m sure she thought it was just another normal day. God had a different plan! That was the day that God used this woman to spread the news of Christ throughout the city of Sychar. The disciples had gone to the city, and there had been little interest in them.
However, an hour or two later a woman, who the Jews didn’t have dealings with (John 4:9), threw the entire population into excitement; and in a few minutes they were streaming out to meet with Christ. God had not chosen to use the “important leaders” or “qualified people” to do this. He had chosen a woman of Samaria.
As we look at history time and again, we see that time after time God has used the most unlikely and the most unworthy instruments to bring about His plans.
Apostle Paul wrote about this in 1 Corinthians: “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:” (1 Corinthians 1:27-28).
No matter how sinful or unworthy we may feel today, God can use us. Throughout history God has chosen ordinary people and unworthy people and the least likely people.
If God could use such a woman two thousand years ago to to spread news of Christ to the city of Sychar, how much more God could use you and me today if we would put ourselves in His hand!
True buddy.. it'd be amazing what he could do through us if we'd just let go and let God have free reign of our lives..
Thank you, Skyler! Sometimes we just feel unworthy.
